Every evening, Blocky Bully clocks in beside the dumpster and claims the warmest square of asphalt. Delivery vans wait for his stare to clear. Palm trees keep their distance. He has never chased a car; the cars simply understand procedure. Stray shopping carts are turned around without comment. By midnight, the alley is quiet, the curb is secure, and one squeaky toy remains unreturned. Streetlights blink twice before he leaves.
